Thompson Career College is offering a fully interactive Medical Transcription course utilizing a proven curriculum from our partner, Career Step. Career Step specializes in developing interactive online courses to train quality Medical Transcriptionists. Medical Transcription service owners, editors and actual working medical transcriptionists with more than 100 years of combined experience developed the curriculum! Career Step was started over a decade ago and has developed what the Medical Transcription (MT) industry considers to be one of the best MT Courses available in North America.
The curriculum is one of only a few approved by the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI).
Quality training will be the key to your success as a transcriptionist. Our course includes focused training in three basic skill requirements - keyboarding, grammar and punctuation, and medical terminology. Most importantly, our course will provide you with extensive "hands-on" practice to give you the experience you need to help you get hired.
The program is 9 months long on a full time basis (37 weeks of class time) requiring 30 hours of work per week, including 25 hours of online interaction with course materials, and 5 or more hours of time participating in online chat sessions, guest speaker sessions, typing practice and review.
You have two study options. You can study in the privacy of your own home, or on site at the Thompson Career College learning lab. If you choose to study at home, everything you need is included with the program. All that you require is a computer, a head-set and internet access. We supply the rest! All of our students receive a full-sized Illustrated Medical Dictionary, a Pharmaceutical Word Book, a Medical Surgical Word Book, Terminology Flash Cards, and a USB Transcription Foot Pedal and downloadable Software. Upon completion and passing of the final exam, all students will also receive certificates from both Thompson Career College and Career Step. Thompson Career College also provides help with job prospecting to all of our students, during the course and after graduation. |
